This soft basket is made with wool yarn twined around cotton seine. Much time and patience is required to make each unique bag. The technique comes from the Native Americans of the Columbia Plateau region. Traditionally these flexible cylindrical baskets were made out of dogbane, willow bark, and grasses. As other materials became available such as corn husks, burlap, and yarn they adapted and used those materials.
This basket can stand on its own and can also be used to hold pens, glasses, keys, coins, rocks, etc.
